By mobilephones 29/08/2022 536 Views

Hello.

I am Junya Hanaoka, a sommelier at the Nagano Prefecture Tourism Organization.

Corona Reconstruction Support "Ale for wineries! Ale for everyone!"

Drink 〜NAGANO WINE〜, have fun, and send ale back and forth〜

Thank you very much for all the support you have given to the first edition of "Japan Alps Wine Valley"! !

"I support NAGANO WINE!"

"Let's get through the corona disaster together!"

"I'm looking forward to delicious wine"

"If I can help even a little. I'll drink a lot!"

We have received very warm comments such as.

Currently up to 95% achieved! ! It will be established soon.

By all means, if you are new to me, I would be happy if you could also see the "Japan Alps Wine Valley" page.

Also, this "Ale" project is not only for wine, but also for Japanese sake!

~ Corona Reconstruction Support Nagano Prefecture Sake Brewery Support Project 1st ~ "Furusato"

You can enjoy the gem of sake selected by Azumi Tamaoka, the only Nagano Prefecture Sake Brewers Association official and local sake advisor, without compromise. Please pay attention to this as well.

Now, I would like you to send your support to the wineries and grape producers in Nagano Prefecture who are in a difficult situation due to the decrease in demand for restaurants, hotels, and souvenirs due to the corona crisis.

And from the winery, this crowdfunding was launched with the idea of returning the cheers by delivering the special NAGANO WINE for those who are forced to endure. It's time to start the second installment.

In this edition of "Kikyogahara Wine Valley", we have prepared limited wines that are not generally distributed as in the first edition.

Please receive the heartfelt "yell" from the winery and enjoy NAGANO WINE at home while "feeling Shinshu"! !

Thank you for your continued support.

The more you know the thoughts and efforts of the producers,

"I want to deliver this feeling to consumers!"

Again, why do you sell sake at the Nagano Prefectural Tourism Organization?

Let me explain why we have a sommelier.

The Nagano Prefectural Tourism Organization acquired a wholesale liquor sales license three years ago for the purpose of promoting, enlightening, and selling Nagano's attractive liquor outside the prefecture and overseas.

As a sommelier, I am in charge of "wine cider" and introduce wine and cider made in Nagano to everyone.

Originally, there was a winery in my hometown, and I have been involved in work related to wine from Nagano Prefecture for over 20 years.

The more you go to wineries and fields every day and learn about the thoughts and efforts of the producers,

"Isn't there a way to get it to consumers somehow?"

We started a wine bar specializing in Nagano wines in Matsumoto city, and held monthly wineries to host maker's dinners, winery tours, and wine events. We have been working together with the winery in various ways to serve as a bridge between people.

One of the charms of Japanese wine is that you can meet the producers.

I want you to know and enjoy the charm of “Japanese wine” and “NAGANO WINE”

One of the attractions of Japanese wine NAGANO WINE is that you can meet the producers. However, due to the corona misfortune, unfortunately it has become difficult.

Therefore, as a way to introduce NAGANO WINE to everyone even during the corona crisis, we started an "online winery tour" last year.

It is possible to participate from anywhere in Japan online, and to be able to speak directly to consumers from producers.

In addition, the participants are very happy because they can tell live about the magnificent scenery of Shinshu, the green of the vineyards, the growing conditions of the grapes, etc., now that it is difficult to travel.

"I want to go to a winery after corona"

"When I drink wine, I see the winemaker's face"

We received warm comments such as

, and we are very encouraged by wineries who have fewer opportunities to meet everyone.

Through this crowdfunding, we hope that you will be able to experience the wonders of Japanese wine and introduce wineries in Nagano Prefecture. We are looking forward to the day when we can meet everyone, including brewers and wineries, and I think that this year's preparation will be even more enthusiastic.

What is NAGANO WINE?

When you think of Nagano Prefecture, what comes to your mind first?

“Karuizawa, a summer resort,” “Kamikochi, where you can enjoy magnificent scenery,” “A ski resort you went to on a school trip?”

Nagano Prefecture is very large, 212km from north to south and 120km from east to west, and there are many mountain ranges that divide each region. That's the nature of the land that the culture from the old days is still rooted in the land.

In Nagano Prefecture, the number of wineries is increasing rapidly. The number of wineries, which was 17 until 2000, has now increased to 63. In 2013, we implemented the "Shinshu Wine Valley Concept" for each winery region, aiming to develop the wine soil of the prefecture as a whole from the four regions (wine valleys) that were set.

We are promoting Nagano wine as "NAGANO WINE that the world falls in love with", so it is written as "NAGANO WINE" here.

"Why are there so many wineries?"

There are several reasons why

1. Due to the effects of global warming, it has become a suitable land for growing grapes for wine.

Vineyards in Nagano Prefecture (hereafter referred to as “fields”) are often built on mountain slopes, and grape varieties suitable for the land are cultivated using the altitude difference of 350m to 1300m. There is an environment for cultivating a wide variety of grape varieties, and healthy grapes are harvested. It has also produced many award-winning wines at domestic and international wine competitions.

2. Have a system to accept immigration and new farming

The number of people working from home and remote work has increased due to the corona sickness, and more and more people are moving from Tokyo to Nagano Prefecture, which is about an hour away by Shinkansen. In fact, even before that, Nagano Prefecture has always been at the top of the immigration rankings, and many prefectures and municipalities have systems in place to accept immigrants and new farmers.

3. There is a school for those who want to become a winery

The Chikumagawa Wine Academy was opened in Nagano Prefecture's Higashishin and Tomi City's Arkanvigne, and the Shiojiri Wine University in Shiojiri City, Chushin. is assembled. In addition, the environment surrounding wine is being improved, such as the foster parent brewing system sponsored by the prefecture and the network of grape producers for wine.

is a big reason.

"Ale to the winery! Ale to everyone!"

It is very unfortunate and heartbreaking that there are many restrictions on alcohol, such as "restaurants are open for short hours" and "voluntary refraining from serving alcohol", and the trend that alcohol itself is bad.

Originally, I think that wine is a drink that goes well with food, connects people, and enriches life.

We would like to encourage everyone to enjoy NAGANO WINE so that the daily life, which was enjoyed as a matter of course, will recover even a little and continue to enjoy a rich time. I would appreciate it if you could.

From the winery, we have prepared a special wine for everyone this time.

Special wines that can only be delivered to those who receive ale, such as wines specially brewed for this crowdfunding, limited wines that are not sold to the general public, and wines created by selecting varieties.

Through this project, I sincerely hope that the charm of NAGANO WINE will be conveyed and that everyone's dining table will be full of smiles and a rich time with "deliciousness and fun".

Second "Kikyogahara Wine Valley"

A wine valley in Shiojiri City, almost in the center of Nagano Prefecture. There is also a long-established winery that is over 100 years old, making it the oldest wine-making region in Nagano Prefecture. There is also a 1.8-liter bottle of wine made from American varieties such as Niagara and Concord, and it is a wine-producing area that has taken root in the region. In addition, the European grape variety Merlot was quickly introduced, and the quality is now known around the world.

〇 Hayashi Farm (Shiojiri City)

The oldest winery in Nagano Prefecture. We started making wine in 1919 and have a history of more than 100 years.

In Nagano Prefecture, Goichi Wine is a forest farm that is familiar with the commercial of "Yume ~ Fukura ~ Mu, Go~i~ Chiwain~♪".

It has a long history, beginning in 1911 when Goichi Hayashi, the founder, started cultivating fruit trees. We started making wine in 1919 (Taisho 8) and have a history of more than 100 years. It is a winery that has been working with local contract farmers. In addition, the Merlot variety, which took root after many years of hard work, has now grown to become a representative variety of Kikyogahara. The old Merlot tree, which is 70 years old, is still active and bearing its fruit.

A Merlot tree over 70 years old

Kazuhiro Soekawa, General Manager of the Brewing Department, said, "The grapes cultivated in Kikyogahara, where it is hot during the day and cool at night, ripen slowly and produce a complex flavor with moderate acidity and concentrated fruit. The motto of Hayashi Farm is to provide wine with the natural taste and aroma unique to Kikyogahara.”

★This wine★

A blend of several varieties, mainly Merlot, which is representative of Kikyogahara. A red wine blended with Merlot from different vintages and aged in oak barrels. Because it uses Merlot from long-aged vines, it has a solid color tone and a scent of ripe fruits such as prunes and blueberry compote, and a rich fruit flavor. In addition, by blending different vintages, the sense of aging, vanilla scent derived from barrels, and toasty aroma are harmonized, making it a dry red wine with a more complex, firm and astringent taste.

〇Sun Sun Winery (Shiojiri City)

A winery that has won numerous awards both in Japan and overseas.

When you go south on the mountain pass of Nakasendo (currently Route 20), you will see Sansan Winery on your right. Social welfare corporation Sun Vision established in 2015 not only to brew wine, but also to foster local culture and create a place where the elderly and children can relax. Vineyards spread out on the slopes facing the west overlooking the Northern Alps with Shiojiri below.

You can see the beautiful scenery from the attached shops and restaurants. Cultivation and brewing are led by Mr. Hideo Togawa, one of the best winemakers in Japan who has built the foundation of Nagano wine, serving as the factory manager of Mann's Wine, and serving as a technical advisor and factory manager at several wineries in the prefecture. (Currently Senior Advisor), the wine sent out boasts many awards in domestic and international wine competitions.

For crowdfunding, they brewed a cultivar called “Viognier”. Viognier originated in the Rhône region of France and is widely cultivated in southern France. In Nagano Prefecture, no, it is a breed that is not often seen in Japan. After many discussions with Mr. Shogo Tamura, the factory manager in charge of brewing, we felt the potential of this variety from the wine, and decided to adopt it because we would like everyone to taste it. It is a very valuable wine that is not sold to the general public.

At first, we had a meeting with Mr. Tamura, who is in charge of brewing, from the varieties (March 2021)

For this crowdfunding, we decided to use "Viognier" for white wine!

It is characterized by a gorgeous white aroma and a voluminous taste that stands out from the glass, with a strong umami and richness, and a spicy aftertaste of ginger and white pepper. Finished.

Furthermore, by blending Chardonnay barrel-aged, the complex and fruity flavors are deepened and the overall balance is adjusted.

I can't help but smile at the finished wine (^^)

〇 Domaine Surier (Shiojiri City)

Shiojiri Taketomo, a construction and restaurant company, began cultivating grapes in 2013 to regenerate idle farmland, and established a winery in 2019.

The winery name "sourie" means "smile" in French. The winery also has a bakery specializing in rice flour, making it a winery that makes the locals smile. Kota Watanabe, a young brewer in his 30s, is in charge of brewing. After completing training in France, he is brewing the essence of Shiojiri grapes.

Shiojiri, a city of lacquerware and wine, is located in the center of Nagano Prefecture. It is located in an important place as a base of transportation. Did you know that there is a grape trellis at the station in Shiojiri City? In autumn, the grapes are almost overflowing with fruit, and the scent of grapes welcomes those who arrive.

★This wine★

We have a lineup of valuable red wines with a very limited number, which are made from Muscat Bailey type A harvested at Shiojiri Station and aged in barrels made from Mizunara oak from Shiojiri. Muscat Bailey A is an original breed bred in Japan, and Kota Watanabe, who is in charge of brewing, says, "We value the sweet scent of candy, crisp acidity, and a faint astringency that are characteristic of the breed. Brewed" is an easy-to-drink red wine. In addition, you can also feel the oriental scent by using "Mizunara oak", which is rare in the world. It has a mild astringency, so it goes well with delicate Japanese dishes, and it is a very Japanese wine that you should definitely pair with dishes using dashi, sukiyaki, and yakitori (grilled chicken). In order to continue this new initiative, we would like to ask for your support!

"Muscat Bailey A" cultivated on a shelf at the west exit of Shiojiri Station (this is the grape of the year)

Aged in a 100 liter barrel made from Mizunara oak from Shiojiri City.

Local craftsmen participating in the second round

The crafts that will be returned this time are two "lacquered wine glasses" (vermillion) and (black) produced by "Motoyama Lacquerware", a Kiso lacquerware store with a tradition of over 400 years in the Narakawa area of Shiojiri City. leg set.

Motoyama Lacquerware is a manufacturer that turns the charm of "Wa", which is backed by tradition, into a world-class "shape", and manufactures products that connect tradition to the future.

From the base coat to the main coat, lacquer coating requires a lot of work, but the lacquer craftsmen carefully apply each layer without losing their concentration.

Lacquer is a natural paint extracted from tree sap.

Unlike scientific paints, you don't have to worry about environmental hormones even if you use it on pillars and flooring. In addition, recent research has revealed that lacquer-coated products have an antibacterial effect. Lacquer is being reconsidered as a material that can be used for various things such as everyday tableware and housing.

We hope that you will experience the “beautiful changes the more you use it”.
