Discovery + Review: An additional piece to complete a video subscription

By mobilephones 04/04/2022 1007 Views

It's just started!

Discovery + has just started in the United States in 2021. As the name implies, it's a video streaming service from Discovery Channel. It started in India a little earlier in March last year, and started in the United States and Europe from the beginning of the year. We plan to expand globally. There are already a lot of video subscriptions in the world, and I think there are many people who have subscribed to more than one. However, according to the US Gizmodo reviewed, Discovery + is a service that could be added to the streaming life. Let's take a look at the detailed review.

The long-awaited Discovery + has finally started!

DIscovery + has entered the streaming industry during the Warring States period as a whole of Discovery series programs. There is a crime-based documentary, there is a reality program, and there is a natural-based documentary. That program of familiar channels (HGTV, History Channel, A & E, Food Network, etc.) that have taken root in the United States for a long time is gathered. In addition to old programs, more than 50 Discovery + limited content will be distributed at the start, and more than 1,000 hours of original content will be distributed by the end of the year. The abundance of content is also attractive, but the mechanism is also quite good.

Discovery +

What is this? : A new streaming service where discovery brands have come together (+ licensed program).

Price: $ 4.99 / month with ads, $ 6.99 without ads.

Pros: Rich content that anyone will find something

Unfortunately: There are few 4K compatible programs & it is difficult to find

First, Discovery + is a two-pillar system with and without advertising. $ 4.99 / month with ads, $ 6.99 without ads. Do people who have already subscribed to video streaming services need to increase more now? If you are told (especially the number of new services increased last year), I think you don't have to. But let me tell you, at least try it out. It's okay for a short period of time, so give it a try. Personally, the fact that there are many nature programs is a sufficient reason to subscribe, but in addition to that, the abundance of content at the time of service launch is also attractive. There is absolutely something you want to see, and you can meet new programs.

How are you all spending your time at home, which has increased dramatically since last year? I'm watching reality shows and nature & space documentaries. Whether it's Netflix or Apple TV, regardless of platform, I'm seeing more and more of them for the time being. If you spend your time at home the same type as me, Discovery + is heaven. It is a buffet of natural programs. There are many BBC programs (such as "Planet Earth" and "Blue Planet") as well as Discovery programs. The original Discovery + show "A Perfect Planet", narrated by British zoologist David Attenborough and produced by Planet Earth staff, is also amazing. That's at least well worth signing up for a free trial.

But that's not all. Anyway, there is a surprising amount of content at launch. In addition, even though there is a lot of content, it is easy to find it properly depending on the genre and channel. On the top page, new original contents, contents in the future, trends, and recommendations according to user's taste are displayed. Personally, I wish I had a 4K category search here. Currently, there are still few 4K contents such as "Planet Earth II" and "Blue Planet II", so expect to add them later this year. As for the original content, you can expect it because you are putting a lot of effort into entering the video distribution service with Discovery +. I will continue to expect it.

I am grateful that there are many compatible platforms from the start. Currently available on Xbox, Fire TV, Roku, Apple, Android, Samsung smart TV, Chromecast (including recent Google TV). I'm a Vizio OLED TV user, so I can't launch it from the TV app, so I'm casting it from my iPhone 11. When I asked the person in charge if there were plans to expand the platform such as LG and Vizio in the future, it was said that there was no plan to announce it immediately, but it seems that they are planning.

The various brands and partners of Discovery Channel are easy to understand, and the categorization (lifestyle, adventure, paranormal, documentary, science, etc.) is appropriate and very easy to see. I get the impression that the content is organized and the design is easy to see.

The abundance of content backfires, and I can't find what I want to see, so it's chaos! It is nice not only to arrange the categorization so that it does not become, but also to predict the program that the user wants to watch using a unique algorithm. I haven't told you the details of the algorithm, but you can use the recommended functions.

Up to 5 user profile registrations can be registered per account. Up to 4 devices can be viewed at the same time. I think that almost the whole family can enjoy it with one account.

Now, join Discovery + and don't stop Netflix. Rather than replacing existing services, I think it's more of an additional piece to make your home's entertainment time more perfect.
