Smartphones are once again competing for "eccentricity." Samsung Electronics is in the midst of that trend. In 2019, he unveiled a foldable smartphone [Japanese version article], but the recently released "Galaxy S10" also has a unique personality such as a new punchhole camera and a fingerprint sensor with an integrated display.
In the smartphone market, new categories of luxury models are gradually emerging. Samsung's new Galaxy S10 is also likely to fall into this category. The price is 750 dollars even for the basic model (about 83,000 yen, depending on the carrier in Japan). The top model, which boasts a storage capacity of 1TB (terabyte), costs $ 1,600 (about 176,000 yen).
There is no model that can match the planned price of the foldable model ($ 1,980 = about 218,000 yen), but none of them are cheap. Unless you're buying a new phone from a phone you bought at least a couple of years ago, it's a price you'll want to spend some time considering upgrading.
1: Large and easy-to-read "perforated" display
There are three models in this high-end Galaxy S series. The smallest 5.8-inch "Galaxy S10e", the medium-sized 6.1-inch "Galaxy S10", and the largest 6.4-inch "Galaxy S10 +" [Note: S10e has not been released in Japan]. These three models share a lot of DNA.
The first thing you'll notice is the display. All models are equipped with a vivid organic EL display that supports HDR display. Due to the extremely large number of pixels, even a light touch on the corner of the display responds very well. At any end, up, down, left or right.
In fact, the display's share of the surface area is so great that there is little space for other functions. It would have been possible to place a camera or sensor with a notch at the top of the display like the iPhone, but that's not interesting.
So Samsung made a small hole in the upper right corner of the display. The company calls this display the "Infinity-O Display." It's a wacky idea, but I personally like it so far.
I've never felt annoyed or annoyed by this strange punchhole with a built-in front camera for selfies. It's technically well-processed so that it doesn't stand out. If you don't like this hole, you can use a dark wallpaper at the top or blacken the entire status bar to make the hole less noticeable.
2: Secret new feature "battery sharing"
All three models are waterproof to "IP68" and have a metal-glass sandwich structure. This structure has been popularized by Samsung and Apple in the last few years. Sure, it's fragile (I recommend buying a case), but the glass back allows for wireless charging and a secret new feature, battery sharing.
